a little about me
Thodi natkhat, bahut meethi.…! Khaane se bhayankaar pyaar tha, hai aur hamesha rahega!
Koyal si teri boli….as people say!
Selfish eater, utterly butterly simple, hate loud and ill-mannered people, horror movie buff, loves the paranormal and mysteries of every kind, “ghumakkad” to the core, mature in the head, true blue Sagittarian, adventure freak, diplomacy aur tension se ekdum door…I like to live in peace and happiness…Oh, and yes! I did be the happiest if my car broke down in the middle of a deserted jungle at 2:00 in the night!
As a rolly-polly, fully swollen and painstakingly fat child and teenager, my life revolved around food and the kitchen. That was the time when I had cola instead of water, ate pakoras instead of bread and butter in breakfast. Had chocolates in place of milk, ate chips like the cow eats grass…..basically, I was a very heavy child who cared about nothing but food. Cooking was never really something which intrigued me back then, I only wanted to enter the kitchen making Maggie and nothing else.
Then came that day when things changed a lot… At a home science exam in school, I was asked to bake a plain cake. Having no clue about the recipe and hating the fact that I had to bake in my exam, I happened to bake the cake finally with some helpful whispers from my friends in the class. Well, perhaps God had his hands on me that day…I went on to score the highest in the exam and the cake was a huge hit amongst everyone. This one moment changed a lot many things and then came the day when I started baking and cooking every weekend as a school kid. The plain cake was indeed responsible for awakening the chef in me and being my favorite pastime at almost every off from school.
A lot many things changed and many years later I quit my desk job altogether and got into exploring cooking and learning food styling. I realized I was better off making a mess in the kitchen than sitting in a boring conference room, clad in formals and discussing the financial goals of the company. That was never life to me! Today…I cook and bake and then make all the various compositions to click the most incredible picture and capture the intricate details of everything I have baked and cooked. I just love capturing and photographing food and making it look even greater than it is. This is exactly what life means to me and it makes me amazingly happy to do all this!
I did rather be in my kitchen making the most exotic decorations on my cupcakes and romancing my perfectly-baked tarts, feeding my people, enjoying a cup of hot chocolate in my cozy window against the rains, trekking up in the canyons, exploring food and life than spending hours on a presentation and returning home when its already time to go to bed. I see my life through food, and I wish someday I find myself baking and creating everything exotic with my children as my constant companions.
What is “A nut called Hazelnut”?
A nut called Hazelnut is all about tasty recipes that are made from scratch and easy to prepare. Making delicious recipes from good quality, healthy, fresh ingredients doesn’t need to be complicated or overly time-consuming. I am the voice, author and creator behind A nut called Hazelnut. My blog is generally focused on desserts and everything bakery. It’s also for everyone who has a sweet tooth and is always looking for newer and different recipes and also healthy alternatives that are either quick or simple to make. However you will also find some savory options here, sometimes I do try to not to ignore the salt can in my kitchen too much…!
I try to make my recipes approachable for the average cook; i.e., ingredients are easy to find, the ingredients list isn’t a mile long, and the recipe doesn’t take forever to cook. You will find plenty of chocolate and of course, hazelnut on my blog, along with a sprinkle of self-deprecating humor. 🙂
